Great news if it is true, but take everything with a grain of salt - Flickr is notorious for fakes.

Also I don't believe they would open it to the public without giving us prior notice, I would guess at least 3 days.

Until I hear from the staff here on Newsvine itself, I won't believe it.

Prompt, you might want to do some research on that statement ;-)

Prompt is right...they have been very open with us about the status of "soon to be released" features as well as dropping a note here and there about the impending public launch timeframes. I would be very surprised if they would do this with no warning first. But then again you never know...

How about we ask them...not like they are super secret Apple here.

Allmighty Newsvine crew...any updates on release date?

Just curious as to which comment you are referring to, and where I would be wrong (you come off as seeming to know something I apparently don't)

All I will tell you is that my conversation with Mike really took place. I'll leave it up to you to figure out a reason why I didn't fake it. (How's that for investigative journalism, eh!)

Now I just hope nothing comes between the launch...

All I will say is that I can vouch for Mark's identity as the real Mark Wubben, who's in pretty close contact with the real Mike Davidson.

Aww, now we're going to be flooded with lots of Windows users, and various other evils. :-P

But seriously, I'm really glad to see this ship set sail. :-D

I would not doubt the launch being sometime tomorrow. I just received my Newsvine Beta Invite today. I can truly see what all the fuss is over this site. It's great!

I just made a post here regarding what I think needs to be done before Newsvine goes public. Mind you the title is a tad misleading now that invites are back from being MIA. I made the post before I saw this one. Or I might have posted my comments here.

All signs certainly seem to point to a launch tomorrow, and they did say on the blog it was going to be a week or two away max. I'm curious to see how the site evolves from here on out... it should be an interesting ride.

Well, I can tell you guys that they are trying to go public "very soon". I'd say more but don't want to get kicked off or anything ;-)

Not that anyone threatened me. If anyone wants to pay me $50 I'd be happy to share more...he he he.

Yea if you think you have information overload now, just wait till newsvine goes public. I visited gabbr for a little while but there was way too many articles and posts to be able to wade through it. Maybe the gates won't be flooded, but just a steady rise in membership. Maybe then we can try to keep up with all the extra information that is surely to come our way.

I didn't know that there were any fake Mike Davidsons out there. Would the real Mike D. please stand up, please stand up!
